A Moral CrossroadsBy States' Liberty Party Sometime early in the last century America came upon a moral crossroads and chose an enticing side path over the straight one paved by her ancestors. The industrial revolution had taken root and citizens were leaving the farms and migrating to cities to work in factories that would bring technology and science to the still young country. A belief in God was paramount, and moral values were cherished, but citizens were finding a need to limit family size and were molding a modern tool called "birth control" in which to do it. The Catholic Church, with a 2000 year long history of instructing their worldwide flock to follow lessons of the ancient teachers and shun the Original Sin, balked at this developing new morality and eventually conceded to a substandard one that may limit births but must be "open to life". Protestant churches held mixed views and continue to. With America's churches having accepted, in part, the morality which redefines the process of birth to a process of prohibiting birth for the experiencing of pleasures, Original Sin was institutionalized and upon a new direction had the Nation embarked. The ancient teachings were abandoned for a new morality. The religion of secular humanism was born. Shortly, the United States Supreme Court granted their wholehearted approval and blessed the new religion, heralding it with a banning of ancient and contrary religious teachings from the nation's public schools on a distorted reading of a Civil War era civil rights law, and just a generation later children would be shunned, teased and ridiculed for failing to partake in the new rituals demanded by secular humanism. Each subsequent generation of youth progressively recognized new inconsistencies in the modern religion, because it continues to adhere in part to the old values while rejecting the foundation of those values. Out of this come "natural and normal" displays of "love" by same sex or unmarried couples, a worshiping of pornography and deviant personal behavior, and an epidemic of unwanted pregnancies resulting in terminated and unwanted children. The response of secular humanism is a cry for abortion on demand, an insistence that youth will reject the religious lessons of behavioral self-control, and an intolerance for the ancient religious teachings and with it a demand that religion be prohibited from the public institutions. The crossroads leads to two distinct and different ends, and America has a choice. She may continue merrily down the current one and watch thousands of years of history fade as children are singularly taught the path of sensual pleasures, or may instead return to the crossroads and take back the direction of her heritage. America is a God fearing nation, and will choose the latter. States' Liberty Party 11/10/02 |
