Domestic Partnerships are Unconstitutional

In a secular society, a law is not valid if it has no legitimate governmental purpose.  Government has an interest in the well being of children. Marriage protects the financial and emotional stability of children and the mother, by law.

A domestic partnership has no civil purpose, for it is nothing more than a recognition that two people love each other and are, or may be in a deviant (non-procreative) sexual relationship. Neither acknowledgement of love nor of deviant sexual activity have a valid governmental purpose in a secular society.

Citizens should not be encouraged with tax and other incentives to engage in deviant sexual activity, which may bring about disease and community degradation.

Similarly, two people may feel good by acknowledging that they have a special loving relationship, but unless the relationship may theoretically produce natural children a civil marriage or partnership will have no valid purpose  It is unconstitutional and is an equal protection problem, granting tax breaks or extending mandatory health or other benefits arbitrarily to those that profess the special relationship, yet denying the benefits to those that do not..

Until the government can show that a special deviant sexual relationship between two roommates is desirable for and helpful to the community, a domestic partnership law will be foolish and unlawful.

Marriage is a federal matter

Article IV, Section 1, the "Full Faith and Credit" clause reads:

Full Faith and Credit shall be given in each State to the public Acts, Records, and judicial Proceedings of every other State. And the Congress may by general Laws prescribe the Manner in which such Acts, Records and Proceedings shall be proved, and the Effect thereof.

Congress has defined marriage to be between a man and a woman.

Whether called civil union or marriage, a same-sex relationship redefines marriage as a license for engaging in deviant sexual activities for an expressing of love between exactly (2) persons.   A governmental acknowledgement that such behavior is a fundamental right will open the door for activists to teach public school children that deviant sexual activity is normal and good.  Lust will supplant love.  In time, the idea that a person may "love" just one other person wall seem foolish, and young adults will demand a recognition of polygamy, or may lose interest in the marriage tradition.

Whether called civil union or marriage, the activist liberal policy by design will destroy the longstanding religious and societal traditions of America.   Religions demand that love be freely expressed, not granted or controlled by governmental licensing, nor obtained by deviant sexual behavior. Those that wish to destroy traditional marriage desire also to prohibit and eliminate religion and it's values.

Sensible Americans cannot allow the destruction of their ancient traditions and customs.

Marriage, a union between exactly the number and make-up of people required to produce natural offspring, must be protected for benefit of child and mother.

Homosexuality may be brought about by emotional illness, chemical imbalance, or by healthy individuals that simply desire to experiment sexually.  None of these problems and behaviors warrant recognition by the government.
