Court Bars Parent's Tiles with a Religious Message from Columbine High SchoolA recent federal court decision required parents of victims of the
Columbine High School shootings to remove tiles they had placed at the school,
because they contained a "By allowing a tile stating 'God is Love,' the (school) district would be obligated to post tiles stating 'God is Hate,'" the appellate judges from the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals wrote. -- 11th Circuit Appeal Court, concerning Columbine, (Reuter,s, June 27, 2002)The Court's judgement is founded on this First Amendment protection against interference by Congress in States' and citizens' religion:
A long string of ridiculous court decisions regulating and prohibiting the free practice of religion in violation of the First, Tenth, and Fourteenth Amendments, have created legal precedents that belong in the funny pages, not the nation's legal system. We are a party of States' rights, not ideology. However, the current state of the federal court system leads us to very strongly recommend that citizens vote this year entirely for Republican candidates for Congress, to give George W. Bush a working majority in the Senate and House. The United States Supreme Court has just three members who may be relied upon to guard the Constitution and make rational decisions on religion and States, and two or three more who might join them in preserving the wisdom of our founding fathers. None were appointed by Democrats. Democrats will block quality judicial appointments made by the President, having an eye on the singular issue of protecting federal court decisions concerning abortion for the pleasure of constituents who have no interest in constitutional law. America gave back control of the Senate to the Republicans and Constitutional values in the Nov 2002 national elections. -States' Liberty Party July 2002, updated Nov 28, 2002 |
