Morality & the Constitution

Chapter 8 – Herculean Man

A “new man” will develop from the newfound individual liberty, leading to jungle law.  It is Herculean man, a strong man that is independent of governmental regulation, entirely free to make his own choices, unhampered by rules and law.

In this world, man has already realized the folly of trying to force religious moral values on the people in a society.  Such a system is inherently flawed, giving undeserved power to the mentally proficient and penalizing those of a greater physical prowess.

Those of greater mental capacity were elevated to that of controlling all aspects of the community, developing biased intelligence tests to give high scores to those that are stronger mentally.  These tests then determine which members will hold the positions of authority, and those with better minds but perhaps inferior in physical strength are awarded the highest salaries and better jobs.

A truly equal society will disallow the penalizing of those with a superior physical muscle who have a power and natural right to take what they want from the weaker members.

It is a fact that strong men who were able to wrestle and secure the government from those of the higher mental development are commonly quickly brought down by their less-than-worthy opponents on the complaint that they are “strong men” or the false charge they are tinhorn dictators or thugs.

This ridiculous example illustrates how individual rights can be taken too far, in this case returning the society to the laws of the jungle, where equality prevails by the jungle’s natural favoring of physical strength.

If self-control and cooperation is necessary for settling disputes, then perhaps self-control may also be such a reasonable factor for determining sexual morals.
