The Liberty Party will take bold steps to guarantee employment to active job seekers, utilizing new programs administered at state level with existing employment offices, and in conjunction with private agencies.
State employment offices have the means to operate similarly to private agencies and to work with these agencies without additional funding. Additionally to priority hiring practices, states have the means to enact other policies to shorten length of the revolving door of unemployment. California has enacted a policy of paying unemployment compensation for the unemployed wishing to retrain and learn new skills. The Liberty Party will expand this program by offering it to those currently employed, allowing them with help from cooperative employers to retrain for more highly skilled jobs. Similarly, employees wishing to take an extended vacation or needing emergency time off will be eligible for the program when their skills coincide with currently unemployed workers. State unemployment rolls will be transformed to a pool of workers between jobs or temporarily unemployed by choice. |

of work will guarantee full employment, even during periods of recession.
